OUR SOCIETY’S PROGRAMS
PILGRIMAGES
Learn about the visions, histories, ministries of Lutherans, and other Christians in Eastern Pennsylvania through Pilgrimages. Pilgrimages are generally held in Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Pilgrimage may be a morning and/or afternoon event. The ministries visited have opportunities to share their heritages and their aspirations. Leaders present accounts of ministries, persons, successes, and challenges in the past, which have shaped their ministries today and into the future. The Society organizes pilgrimages in both urban and rural settings.
OUR SOCIETY PROMOTES
CONGREGATIONAL HISTORY
Each year, the Society invites Lutheran, Moravian, United Church of Christ, Presbyterian, and Episcopal congregations to submit projects that grow out of the congregation’s history. Projects may be books or booklets developed for anniversaries, oral histories shared by members of congregations, video presentation or other forms of historical awareness. Awards are given as submitted.
CONGREGATIONAL ARCHIVES
and RECORDS PRESERVATION
The Society cooperates with the Lutheran Archives Center at Philadelphia to provide advice and encouragement to congregations to start and maintain collections of historical records and artifacts.
